Welcome to STEC@UKZN

The Science and Technology Education Centre (STEC) at UKZN, aims to stimulate and encourage high school learners with enquiring minds to pursue careers in Science and Technology.

STEC@UKZN has numerous “hands-on” activities, interactive displays, posters and presentations for learners. We also offer exciting science shows which highlight and explains everyday phenomena. Trained personnel are always on hand to assist and answer questions. In addition, we can offer custom-made workshops to suit your particular needs, for both learners and educators. A visit to a Scanning Electron Microscope may be combined with a visit to STEC@UKZN.

Displays highlight the various schools within the College of Agriculture, Engineering and Science, study options available at the university, career opportunities and current research projects of staff.

Incorporated within the centre is the Geology Education Museum, the only geological museum in KwaZulu-Natal. On display are spectacular minerals, fossils, meteorites and lots of rocks.

Prior booking is essential.
